Watt Density
To determine watt density, cold areas need be subtracted from the Sheath Length to determine the Effective Heated Length. A
1" cold area exists at the bottom end of the X-ROD, and a 1" cold area is necessary between zones. The cold
area required at the termination area depends upon the ambient temperature. The minimum cold area is generally 18% of the entire
heated length and is increased as the ambient temperature increases. Consult CEM Electric for design assistance based upon application requirements.
